WOMEN are buying twice as many clothes as 10 years ago because of falling prices, government figures show.

And the arrival of chains such as Primark and Matalan, plus the move of supermarkets into the sector, has had a dramatic impact on prices.
Cheap handbags and "fast fashion" garments are thrown away after being worn a few times.
Other retail sectors have also seen a price slump.
rolex replicaThe price of a vacuum cleaner has fallen by 45 per cent over the last 10 years - while personal computers are 93 per cent cheaper.
Commenting on the figures, Richard Hyman, managing director of the retail analysts Verdict Research, said: "Over the last 10 years, we calculate that women have doubled the average number of items they buy in
embroidered patches a year."
A consequence of fast fashion is that tens of thousands of British manufacturing jobs have been lost to the Far East.
