StyleFeeder is able to glean overall trend data across the thousands of retail brands represented on the site.
Standing out among a total of 6.5 million product views from StyleFeeder's 1.4 million distinct products, this season's most coveted item is the portable Gigaware Micro Projector, a projector that features up to a 50-inch screen for techies on-the-go. And on top of every child's wishlist are all things related to the Zhu Zhu Pet Hamster toy, including Bvlgari Replica the latest accessories and playsets. StyleFeeder's data also reveals popular brands around the country with a mix of results both surprising and predictable. Zales topped the list of most popular brands in more than 20 states, showing that jewelry has major staying power this holiday season. Not surprisingly, Diesel reigns supreme in New York, however DKNY is actually more popular in New Mexico than in New York. Victoria's Secret is hot in Utah, while Massachusetts online shoppers are going sporty with Adidas. Washington D.C. leans preppy, leading the national popularity of Lacoste and J. Crew. Southern belles are carrying Very Bradley bags and wearing Jessica Simpson shoes. Fifth Avenue designers are claiming stake in Nevada with Betsey Johnson and Christian Louboutin topping product views, while Californians prefer the playful styles of Juicy Couture.
"This year more than ever, online shoppers are taking to the Web in droves to search for big deals, new products and hard-to-find items this holiday season," said Philip Jacob, StyleFeeder's founder and CTO. "We gained first-hand insight into national and regional e-commerce trends from StyleFeeder's users that revealed some unexpected brand preferences. Measuring from the start of this year's holiday shopping season into mid-December, StyleFeeder compiled its data by tracking items that had a combination of the most page views and the most click-throughs to retailers. The data was drawn from the usage patterns of a pool of more than 2.5 million unique visitors. StyleFeeder collects this data from web site traffic patterns and refines it to inform algorithms that present first-time visitors with products that are tailored to their geographic area, in hopes that they will find products that are highly relevant to their search.
