HOMEOWNERS in the Stoke area of Coventry are being urged to be vigilant after two elderly women became the victim of night-time burglars.
Police say thieves struck at two homes just roads apart over two days, while the elderly householders slept inside.
The home of an 80-yearold woman in Richmond Street, Stoke was targeted by burglars in the early hours of Monday.
It is believed they got inside the terraced house through an unlocked back door.

flexible waterproof led stripsTwenty-four hours later burglars broke into the home of a 70-year-old woman living in nearby Agatha's Road.
They broke into the house through an upstairs window, waking the pensioner.
After she disturbed the burglars they fled, running out of the house empty-handed.
One of the burglars was described as white, 5ft 9in tall with a slim build. He was wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Jon Martin, of Chace Avenue police station in Willenhall, is urging those living in the Stoke area of the city to be security conscious.
He said: "We're asking the residents of Stoke to be vigilant. People need to make sure their doors and windows are locked.
"I know we have had warmer weather but we are urging people to keep windows closed and locked." Anyone who has information that could help the officers investigating the two burglaries are urged to call Det Con Martin at Chace Avenue police station on 0845 113 5000.
