Visitors mugged and assaulted

YOUTHS mugged a family from the Leeds area as they returned to their guest house following a night out in Bridlington.

Susan Davies, 40, and her daughter Kelly, 19, had their bags stolen and Miss Davies' partner Stephen Wilson, 45, was punched, as they walked along Manor Street.

The attack happened at 1.30am last Thursday after a car containing a group of youths stopped and approached the family.

A police spokeswoman said: "The youths demanded the women's handbags and one of the youths then assaulted the man by punching him in the face.

"The youths ran off and got back into their vehicle before driving away."

They then made their way to Primrose Valley holiday camp near Filey where, using Miss Davies Visa card, they withdrew [pounds sterling]100 from a cash machine.

Also taken was Miss Davies' mobile phone and the youths used it to send text messages to the couple's daughter Gucci Messenger Bags Replica and make abusive phone calls.

Miss Davies said: "My daughter had been at Loop, she loves singing, and we were walking home happy and jolly when a car passed us.

"One of them shouted 'I want your bag and I want your bag and I want your wallet'. He then punched my partner in the face."

"My daughter only had make-up in her bag so she gave it to them but I wasn't willing to give my bag up as easily so he pushed me to the floor."

"It might have been my fault because I wanted to keep hold. It all happened so quickly."

"Kelly thought it was a wind-up and someone was going to come round the corner with a camera and say 'you have been had'."

Miss Davies damaged tissue in her right wrist and grazed her knee and Mr Wilson suffered a bruised and swollen face and he was taken to Bridlington Hospital.

The family, who live in Hunslet, West Yorkshire, had been staying in the Oakwell Guest House in Windsor Crescent for the week.

They had been out to the Pavilion Bar and Loop and said it was very quiet. When they started to walk back the streets were also quiet but the car the yuths Tiffany Bracelet and Bangle emerged from had already driven past once, possibly making sure there was no one else about.

It has not put them off visiting the town again but Miss Davies said it had made her more wary.

She said: "We went to get a takeaway at the weekend and even though I am here where I know, I was nervous."

One of the handbags is white and yellow with black stripes on the front and contained make-up, the other is small and silver with a short strap and contained a pink purse and a Samsung D500 mobile phone.

Two of the three men were wearing dark clothes and one was wearing white tracksuit bottoms.

There was also a fourth man who was driving the car, which was dark in colour.

Miss Davies said: "It is not thought they were local because they would have known there were CCTV cameras."

Any witnesses or anyone who saw the youths should contact the police on 0845 6060222.
